With school out, many parents opt to enroll their kids in academic classes or workshops, in the hopes of making them productive.</p><p>While these classes certainly contribute to your children’s development, have you ever thought of getting them to do part-time jobs during the break?<br/><br/>There are many reasons why you should look into letting your kids take summer or part-time jobs. For one, it makes them productive instead of killing time playing video games or watching TV at home.</p><p>Second, actual experience at work can help your kids learn much more about the real world. Third, it’s a good opportunity for them to earn and learn the value of making their own money.<br/> </p><div class="embed-wrap"><figure data-feedback="fb:likes,fb:comments"><img src="http://sa.kapamilya.com/absnews/abscbnnews/media/2016/business/03/07/030716_citi2.jpg"/></figure></div>Apart from the traditional pay for household chores arrangements, here are some ideas of what your kids can do over summer:<br/><br/><strong>1. Restaurant helpers.</strong><p>A number of large fast-food joints offer summer internship programs for kids, wherein they can learn about the operations of a restaurant, from kitchen work to manning the counters to setting up and cleaning tables. This is a good chance to let your child know about customer relations and the importance of being in a work setting, while also having the chance to learn a few pesos and meet new friends.</p><div><strong>2. Intern at family businesses.</strong></div><p>If you or a relative own a family business, why not have him or her assist in its day-to-day operation in exchange for a small allowance? This is an effective way to let your child learn how your very own business operates, while also appreciating its intricacies. Among the things she or he can do is check inventory, prepare records, and a host of other administrative jobs. This may even be a good way to train him ot her to take over the business in the near future.</p><div><strong>3. Work online.</strong></div><p>If your child likes working with computers or using his or her tablet or phone, there is a wide variety of part-time online jobs that your child can do from home, for a fee. These include doing online surveys, writing summaries, clicking ads, doing simple reports, and the like. Online work is usually paid per hour, and many of them are flexible about their requirements. Do check out these sites to ensure their legitimacy before letting your child sign up for one.</p><div><strong>4. Design websites.</strong></div><p>If your kid is really computer-savvy, why not put her or his computer smarts to work by developing websites. There are many enterprises and individuals looking for someone who can help them design a basic website. This is also one way for your kid to build up her or his portfolio, while earning money on the side.</p><div><strong>5. Tutorial lessons.</strong></div><p>If your kid is good in one subject matter, summer is the perfect time to coach other children or even classmates who may want some academic lessons, usually in Math or Filipino. Even grade schoolers can tutor younger siblings, relatives, or neighbors. Beyond academics, your kid may also be able to teach other kids a particular sport that she or he is good at like tennis, basketball, ping pong, and taekwondo.</p><div><strong>6. Start a small business.</strong></div><p>Summer is a great time to launch a small business – baking and selling cookies, selling gulaman at sago, barbecue, to name a few. You may have to help your kid with the initial capital, and give her or him a few tips in running a business, while making sure to give him enough leeway to be creative in pursuing his or her entrepreneurial bent.</p><div><strong>7. Babysitting for a fee.</strong></div><p>Several working mothers would welcome the opportunity to have someone watch over their young children while they are out on an errand. If your high school or college kid loves children, he or she can earn a few bucks by serving as eyes and ears for the parents while they are away. If you have an extended family, you may be surprised at how in-demand your responsible child can be!</p><p>The above is by no means an exhaustive list – look around and find a businessmen or part-time work opportunity that will best suit your kids and help them earn a little.
