George Calvelo, ABS-CBN News</figcaption></figure></div>MANILA - The SMC Tollways has assigned priority lanes at the South Luzon Expressway (SLEX) to facilitate faster delivery of goods and transport of emergency health services to and from the capital during the Luzon lockdown, its parent San Miguel Corp said Friday. Emergency health vehicles can also use assigned lanes to quickly respond to calls, SMC president and COO Ramon Ang said in a statement. Companies are advised to prepare government-required documents and follow personnel and delivery procedures at the assigned lanes for faster processing, SMC said.“We are doing this to guarantee that essential deliveries reach their destination as smoothly and quickly as possible,” Ang said. Inspection teams led by the Philippine National Police are located before the Susana Heights exit (southbound) and along the Alabang-Filinvest Interchange before SLEX Alabang northbound exit, it said. Those allowed to use the expressway are encouraged to use RFID to lessen the chance of contamination, SMC said. Checkpoints were strategically placed to man the borders and to ensure that the mandatory home quarantine are being observed by Filipinos. Only those working for essential services such as hospitals, supermarkets, as well as in the delivery of cargo and food products are exempted. The Luzon-wide enhanced community quarantine is effective until April 12, restricting travel, barring mass gatherings and ordering people to remain indoors across Luzon in a bid to stem the spread of the coronavirus disease 2019. Government earlier said the movement of cargo should remain unhampered during the quarantine period.
