Pinoy Tasty, Pandesal prices to remain steady: DTI

MANILA -- The Department of Trade and Industry said Friday it secured the assurance of manufacturers that flour and bread prices will remain steady.Pinoy Tasty will still be sold at P35 per 450 gram loaf while Pinoy Pandesal will be kept at P21.50 per 250 gram pack. The price of Harinang Pinoy will stay at P670 to P680 per bag, the DTI said.The trade department said it met separately with flour and bread associations on Wednesday.&quot;Our mandate is to make sure that manufactured products are kept at reasonable prices. We assure the public that they will always have affordable options for staple items like bread and flour,&quot; Trade Sec. Ramon Lopez said.The DTI earlier secured commitment to<a href="https://news.abs-cbn.com/business/09/12/18/price-hikes-on-basic-goods-on-hold-for-at-least-3-months-dti"> hold for at least 3 months</a> from September, price increases in canned sardines, canned meats, all kinds of milk, coffee, bottled water, instant noodles, bread, salt, soy sauce, fish sauce, vinegar, bottled water and candles.Inflation has hovered at near 10-year highs but the slower-than-expected <a href="https://news.abs-cbn.com/business/10/05/18/inflation-at-67-percent-in-september">6.7-percent spike</a> in September led economic officials to believe that the increases were easing.
