<div class="embed-wrap"><figure data-feedback="fb:likes,fb:comments"><img src="https://sa.kapamilya.com/absnews/abscbnnews/media/2017/business/09/13/mrt-2017.jpg"/><figcaption>A train made by Chinese company Dalian for the MRT 3. <em>File</em></figcaption></figure></div><p>MANILA—The Department of Transportation (DOTr) on Saturday rolled out the first train of Chinese company Dalian for the MRT-3.</p><p>In a Facebook Live video, Transportation Secretary Arthur Tugade and other officials rode the train, which was made up of 3 cars.</p><div><script src="https://connect.facebook.net/en_US/sdk.js#xfbml=1&amp;version=v2.5" async="" type="text/javascript"></script></div><div class="fb-post" data-href="https://www.facebook.com/DOTrPH/videos/2216270541985551" data-width="auto"> </div><p>The 48 Dalian trains, purchased for P3.8 billion, had not yet been used due to questions over its compatibility with the MRT tracks.</p><ul class="op-related-articles">	<li><a href="https://news.abs-cbn.com/business/03/15/18/chinas-dalian-insists-trains-safe-to-use-on-mrt">China&#x27;s Dalian insists trains safe to use on MRT</a></li></ul><p>The MRT has come under fire for <a href="https://news.abs-cbn.com/video/news/10/22/18/pila-sa-mrt-north-ave-umabot-hanggang-sa-kalapit-na-mall">long passenger queues</a> and a <a href="https://news.abs-cbn.com/news/10/15/18/another-glitch-offloads-850-mrt-riders">chronic breakdown</a> of its trains, forcing many passengers to disembark and <a href="https://news.abs-cbn.com/news/01/26/18/mrt-umusok-nasa-600-pasahero-naglakad-sa-riles">walk on the tracks</a>.</p><p>As of 5 p.m. Saturday, the MRT has 15 operational trains, 12 of which are running.</p><p>Economic managers in August approved the <a href="https://news.abs-cbn.com/video/business/08/17/18/economic-managers-approve-mrt-3-rehabilitation">rehabilitation</a> of the railway, which is expected to double the number of operational trains by 2022.</p>
