MRT-3 offers free rides for minors on Nov. 6

<p>MANILA - The MRT-3 will offer free rides for minors or those 18 years old and under on Nov. 6, in celebration of National Children&#x27;s Month, the railway said on Monday. </p><p>On Tuesday, minors can ride the train for free from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. and from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.</p><p>Students only need to present their school ID to avail of a free ride, the MRT-3 said on its official Facebook page. </p><div><script src="https://connect.facebook.net/en_US/sdk.js#xfbml=1&amp;version=v2.5" async="" type="text/javascript"></script></div><div class="fb-post" data-href="https://www.facebook.com/dotrmrt3/photos/a.2056632241232252/2518174221744716/?type=3" data-width="auto"> </div><p>The MRT-3 management assured commuters that its operations would not be hampered by the replacement of its rails, which will begin Monday night.</p><p>The project will cover the whole 17-kilometer track of the railway and will be undertaken from 11 p.m. to 4 a.m. gradually and per section. </p><p>The agency targets to complete the project by the second quarter of 2021. </p><p>Once completed, trains will be able to run on the tracks at 60 kilometers per hour from 30 kph, with a headway of 3.5 minutes from 7.5 minutes and a capacity of 600,000 passengers from the current 300,000, the MRT-3 said.</p>
