#WaterInterruption: Maynilad, Manila Water note 'high turbidity level', low water reservoir due to Ulysses

MANILA (UPDATE) - Maynilad Water Services and Manila Water on Thursday said some of its customers continue to experience water interruption even after Typhoon Ulysses had left the Philippine landmass.

Maynilad attributed the interruption since 7am to increased turbidity level of raw water.

"Tumaas ang turbidity level o paglabo ng raw water mula sa Ipo Dam dulot ng malakas na pag-ulan na dala ng Typhoon Ulysses. Para masigurong maayos pa rin ang quality ng tubig na inyong matatanggap, kailangang magbawas ng production ang aming water treatment plants," Maynilad said in an advisory.

(Turbidity level of raw water from Ipo Dam increased due to strong rains brought by Typhoon Ulysses. To ensure the quality of water our customers will receive, our treatment plants will cut production.)

Maynilad said it will continue to monitor the quality of raw water from Ipo dam.

It advised customers that once service resumes, it will allow water to run through until the water is clear.

For its part, Manila Water said customers experienced low to no water pressure on low levels of water in reservoirs.

"Bunsod ng power outages, power fluctuations at pagbaha sa ilan nating mga pumping stations noong kasagsagan ng Bagyong Ulysses, ang ilan sa mga reservoirs ng Manila Water ay hindi napuno kung kaya’t may mga customers sa Antipolo, San Mateo, Rodriguez, at iba pang bayan sa Rizal, pati na rin sa Pasig at Marikina, na makararanas ng mahinang pressure o pagkawala ng supply sa kabila ng paggamit ng mga generator sets," Manila Water said.

(Due to power outages, fluctuations, and flooding in pumping stations during the onslaught of Typhoon Ulysses, Manila Water reservoirs were not filled. Our customers in Antipolo, San Mateo, Rodriguez, and some towns in Rizal, Pasig, and Marikina will experience low to no water pressure despite our use of generator sets.)

Manila Water continues to coordinate with Meralco to bring back stable power supply to resume operations and water supply immediately.
