Tessie Sy-Coson named 'management man of the year'

MANILA - SM Investment Corp.'s vice chairperson Teresita Sy-Coson was named "Management Man of the Year" by the Management Association of the Philippines.

Sy-Coson, the eldest daughter of retail tycoon Henry Sy Sr., was chosen for successfully leading the SM group's retail, property and banking businesses.

She was also honored for "strengthening the identity of companies under the SM Group as socially responsible corporate citizens through the SM Foundation's developmental programs on education, livelihood, health and wellness."

Sy-Coson follows her father, who was also named management man of the year in 1999.

The prestigious award is given to individuals in the business community or government for attaining unquestioned distinction in the practice of management and for contributing to the country's progress.
