Vatican re-imagines digital channel for more accessible church

The Vatican has tapped a digital professional solutions firm to reinvent its communications platform and create a “more accessible church” as its way of adapting to the digital world, Accenture said in a statement released Friday. Vatican’s all-in-one communications system called Vatican News is part of the church’s reform to find better ways to communicate and engage with more people around the world. “We are launching the last part of the reform sought by Pope Francis,” said Monsignor Dario Edoardo Viganò, Prefect of the Secretariat for Communications.“Each reform does not originate from a mistaken past but from a present that calls for a change. In this case, today’s cultural and digital convergence require the adoption of production processes that are different from traditional ones,” he added. Vatican News will be the source of multimedia content from the church operated by a multilingual editorial team that will produce diversified content using a multicultural approach, the Secretariat for Communication Ministry said in the statement.
