The DOTr belied reports that the shareholder companies of Busan Universal Rail, Inc (BURI) will be allowed to bid for 3 railways projects as these firms have already been blacklisted.

"BURI and its joint venture members, which include Busan Transportation Corporation (Busan) and Edison Development and Construction (Edison), are DISQUALIFIED from participating in the bidding of government projects," the DOTr said in a statement.

On Monday, PBA party list Rep. Jericho Nograles was quoted in a news report as saying that Busan and Edison had submitted bids for the rail replacement project for MRT-3, the maintenance contract for LRT-2, and the restoration of four LRT-2 trains.

Last November, the government terminated BURI's maintenance contract for the MRT-3 citing "poor performance and breach of contractual obligations."

Transportation Secretary Arthur Tugade had blamed BURI for the numerous glitches that hit the MRT earlier this year.
