Meralco handout </div>MANILA - More Meralco customers lost electricity when Severe Topical Storm Kristine hit Metro Manila and CALABARZON Thursday night.Meralco Vice President and Spokesperson Joe Zaldarriaga said they reached a peak of 566,000 customers with no power last night which was reduced to around 360,000 as of 12 noon Friday.Zaldarriaga said they also ask for their customers’ patience and understanding as Meralco repair crews have to follow protocols and prioritize their safety, especially in flooded areas.“Pagkalampas na pagkalampas ng malakas na hangin, magtatrabaho na kami agad eh,” Zaldarriaga said in an interview on Teleradyo Serbisyo on Friday. “Tapos inuuna namin ‘yung main lines para mas maraming ma-energize and then kung may mga problema doon sa lateral, ‘yun ‘yung mina-mop up natin, ‘yung iniisa isa natin.”Full power restoration in the affected areas may &quot;take a couple days,&quot; Zaldarriaga added.Meralco also reminded the public to be careful when plugging in electric devices if they have been flooded.“Kailangan lang masiguro natin na safe ‘yung ating mga intermal wiring facilities, just make sure na bago ninyo po gamitin lalo kung binaha kayo, eh maayos ‘yung inyong mga outlets kasi pagka ganitong sitwasyon, unang una isipin natin ‘yung safety,” Zaldarriaga said.<div><iframe width="640" height="360" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/tAZ9czJ6c8A?&amp;wmode=opaque&amp;rel=0" frameBorder="0" allowfullscreen="" class="fr-draggable"></iframe> </div>In Barangay 372, Manila, 3,000 to 4,000 customers lost power when an electric pole was broken in half due to very strong winds.According to Meralco Distribution Engineer Michael Joseph Santos whose team responded to the site, the incident happened around 11 p.m. Thursday.“Naka-receive po tayo ng report sa barangay chairman dito sa Barangay 372 na meron pong nag-lean na poste. So agad agad po nirespondehan po natin,” Santos said. “Kagabi po ay mala-ipo-ipo po yung hangin…kasabay po ng matinding pagbuhos ng ulan.”Power was restored in batches and before noon on Friday, only 11 customers were left with no electricity.<div>NGCP FIXING TRANSMISSION LINES</div>The National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) is also continuously working to bring back power in affected areas.As of 6 a.m. on Friday, six lines remained unfixed, according to Trish Roque, Public Relations Officer of NGCP, while lines have been fully restored in Visayas.NGCP is already preparing for the possible entry of another low pressure area which is expected to develop into a tropical depression and will be named “Leon” once it enters the Philippine Area of Responsibility.“Nakahanda naman na kasi ‘yung ating mga emergency restoration systems, ‘yung mga spare na equipment, spare na mga kagamitan para oras na magkaroon ng panibagong bagyo, handa naman tayong magresponde agad,” Roque said on Teleradyo Serbisyo.She added, “And then yung mga line personnel natin, actually, naka-standby naman siya in strategic areas para madali silang magresponde.”
