MANILA (UPDATE) - BPI on Monday said its mobile app was back online after being unavailable for several hours.

Some users reported being unable to access the BPI app on Monday morning, with the app shutting down immediately after users tried to log in. The Ayala-led lender did not give any further details on the cause of the outage.

BPI then advised users that they could still transact online using the bank's website and the VYBE app, as well as visit the bank's branches.

For the website, users can log in using their internet browser and authenticate using SMS OTP for the following transactions:  bills payment, card control, and password reset, BPI said.

"You can also do funds transfer to your own BPI account with no SMS OTP needed," the bank added.

BPI clients can also use the VYBE by BPI app to transfer money to another BPI account or another bank and redeem rewards. The VYVE app can be downloaded from the Apple App Store for iOS devices or Google Play Store for Android gadgets.

"For other banking transactions, you may visit a BPI Branch near you," the banks said.

At 7:32 p.m., BPI posted a comment on its Facebook page that its mobile app was available again.

The glitch comes as another Ayala-led company, GCash had just dealt with  a glitch that saw some accounts having unauthorized transactions.
