MANILA --  Still looking for gift ideas to give your Valentine other than flowers and chocolates?  Why not take it to the next level and send your gift through a car with a romantic setup?When the COVID-19 pandemic hit, entrepreneurs like Nesah Mohideen found a way for people to keep making their loved ones feel special despite being in lockdown. Delivery and courier services were the norm, but Mohideen’s gift shop upped the service by styling the trunk of a car with balloons and flowers.The car trunk serves as a backdrop for the receiver to take pictures with as they receive the gift delivery.  Mohideen drew inspiration from Overseas Filipino Workers who were looking for a way to send surprises on special occasions.“Nagkaroon ng lockdown na bawal pumunta sa ibang city nad kami ‘yong way para madama nilang nagse-celebrate pa rin sila ng birthdays, anniversary,” Mohideen said.Mohideen’s shop offers surprise delivery from P4,999 inclusive of a bouquet, cake, and car trunk setup. Their service also includes a song request and photo and video coverage.Filipinos are fond of grand gestures of love, according to Mohideen, which is why the service is in demand even on regular days.But on Valentine’s, they expect their sales to triple due to the increase in demand.“Halos every day may nagpapa-surprise. ‘Yong iba nanliligaw pa lang o sinagot. Minsan kami ang way. May engagement, nagpopropose, or nag-aapologize,” Mohideen said.Among their bestselling offers are money bouquets usually gifted to moms and female partners.Money topped a survey by the Social Weather Stations as the most preferred gift by Filipinos for Valentine’s Day.“May na-experience kami P100,000, P50,000. Maganda na siya tignan kasi naka-bouquet na siya imbes na flowers. ‘Yong money kasi ‘pag nakita nila, sumasaya sila at mapapakinabangan,” Mohideen said.Despite the modern age, singing for loved ones doesn&#x27;t seem to age as harana services are still in. Bless Ballebar, a guitarist, has been offering this service 2017.“Kahit may material na bagay, mas na-appreciate ang harana kasi ‘yong song nagko-connect sa emotion ng harana namin. Mas ma-appreciate ‘yong effort,” Ballebar said.Harana is an old Filipino courtship tradition of serenading someone being wooed. It was originally being performed at night outside the window of the one being serenaded. In modern times, even harana has evolved into e-harana or online harana.Ballebar has since formed a group of musicians who perform recorded songs sent over the internet.“Mas marami kasi ang market ng online kaysa offline. Ang naisip namin, gagawa kami ng recorded video. Lalagay namin ‘yong pictures ng mag-asawa or couple,” Ballebar said.Most of their singers are working students like Gabriel Repuesto.“Nakakatulong sa gastusin, baon sa school,” Repuesto said.A regular harana costs P3,000 but the group can produce an e-harana for P2,500.The group offers its services in the Bicol region but also accepts out-of-town requests for a fee.For entrepreneurs like Mohideen and Ballebar, expressing your love need not be expensive, but going the extra mile to make someone feel special on Valentine’s Day is something that is sure to make the heart flutter.<div><a href="https://news.abs-cbn.com/lifestyle/2024/2/11/what-are-filipinos-top-valentine-s-day-gift-wishes-find-out-here-1227">What are Filipinos&#x27; top Valentine&#x27;s Day gift wishes?
