MANILA — The Department of Science and Technology (DOST) urged scientists to avail of the agency’s program to help Filipino inventors test their creations and register for patents.

“With this program, binibigyan natin ng proteksyon yung kanilang mga product,” said Anna Liza Saet, Supervising Science Research Specialist at the DOST’s Invention Development Department.

“Tulong pinansyal ito upang mabigyan ng tamang proteksyon ang kanilang mga teknolohiya, ang kanilang mga creation upang magkaroon sila ng vantage o leverage upang macommercialize ito sa merkado,” she told state television PTV.

Saet also underscored that inventors should ensure that their intellectual property rights are protected before launching new products in the market.

“We make sure in our assistance na hindi lang mavalidate yung workability ng technology pero mavalidate hanggang sa market,” she said.

“Dapat may proteksyon ang produkto o teknolohiyang binuo ng inventor. Wag sila basta mag launch sa market ng kahit anong product nang hindi nabibigyan ng protection,” she said.

The DOST official did not mention how much in cash assistance inventors can get from the agency.
