MANILA - The Philippines' power transmission operator again placed the Luzon and Visayas power grids on yellow alert on Tuesday as energy reserves remained thin.

For the Luzon grid, the NGCP said the available capacity is 14,950 megawatts, while peak demand is 13,902 MW.

The Department of Energy admitted last week that the power situation in the country has reached crisis levels. Meralco meanwhile warned that the situation may get worse in May as the weather gets hotter and consumer demand for electricity rises.
