MANILA - Despite the non-working Labor Day holiday, the Luzon grid was again placed on Yellow Alert.

The National Grid Corp of the Philippines said the following alerts were in effect  on Wednesday

"A yellow alert is issued when the operating margin is insufficient to meet the transmission grid’s contingency requirement," the NGCP said.

While the available capacity in Luzon is 15,026 megawatts, peak demand is at 12,899 MW, the power grid company said.

This means that rotating brownouts are possible.

This is the third week that the NGCP has been issuing warnings about thin power reserves.

Last week, the Department of Energy admitted that the power situation has reached crisis levels.
