Local fishermen from Masinloc, Zambales prepare their equipment for a five-day fishing trip in the evening of June 17, 2024. The country committed to increase the deployment of coast guard and navy units in the West Philippine Sea to protect its civilians and fishermen from Chinese harassment following the implementation of the Chinese Coast Guard policy allowing the detention of trespassers in what it considers its territorial waters.
