But the desire to bring authentic Filipino dishes to our area is so strong.&quot;The restaurant chain has continued to expand after eight decades with 700 branches worldwide under its parent firm.The newly opened Max’s in Virginia Beach is its 24th in North America.International operations yielded what is equivalent to about $2.7 million to the Max’s Group’s overall revenue of about $203 million in 2023.These figures were made public in the company&#x27;s stock exchange disclosure in the Philippines.Bill Rodgers of the Max’s Group said their history dating back to the end of World War 2 is significant to the relationship between the United States and the Philippines.In choosing their new location, he said Virginia Beach is a special place because of the large concentration of military personnel in the area.&quot;This is the second largest military population in the U.S.,&quot; said Rogers. &quot;It kind of brings it back to the beginning of the restaurant in 1945. That was the military that helped us get started.&quot;Among those present in the Max&#x27;s opening was the new Philippine Consul General in Washington D.C., Donna Rodriguez.She said it marked not only the expansion of a cherished Filipino brand but also highlighted the growing appreciation of the international community for the richness of Philippine cuisine.&quot;We hope that not only Filipinos will be able to enjoy their visits to Max’s restaurant,&quot; said Rodriguez, &quot;but [also] our friends in the U.S. and from other countries as well, so that our cuisine and our culture as an extension will be known.&quot;The restaurant previously had its soft opening in April.Since then, people from all over Virginia and neighboring states have kept coming, lining up even for hours just to get a taste of Max’s delicacies, especially its fried chicken.&quot;The news that Max’s is already here spread like wildfire,&quot; said Gonzales. &quot;We have two to three hours of line. The kitchen got overwhelmed because of the amount of people that came our way. Nevertheless, we are still excited.&quot;
