MANILA -- The number coding scheme is suspended in Metro Manila on Thursday, July 25, the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) said.

The MMDA said this is in line with Malacanang's declaration of class and work suspension in the National Capital Region and Regions 3 and 4A because of rains brought about by typhoon Carina and the southwest monsoon (habagat).

State weather bureau PAGASA said Carina left the Philippine area of responsibility on Thursday morning but would continue enhancing the southwest monsoon or habagat, which would bring rains over western parts of Luzon until this weekend.
