<p>MANILA -- The Social Security System (SSS) wants 4 million beneficiaries of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) to be its members. </p><p>In a statement, the SSS said it signed a memorandum of agreement with the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) that will allow 4Ps beneficiaries nationwide to become SSS members through a modified version of its AlkanSSSya Program.</p><p>The <span id="isPasted" style="color:rgb(65, 65, 65);letter-spacing:normal;orphans:2;text-align:left;text-indent:0px;text-transform:none;widows:2;word-spacing:0px;-webkit-text-stroke-width:0px;white-space:normal;background-color:rgb(255, 255, 255);text-decoration-thickness:initial;text-decoration-style:initial;text-decoration-color:initial;display:inline !important;float:none">AlkanSSSya Program was created in 2011 as a micro-savings scheme for self-employed workers with irregular income, such as tricycle drivers, market vendors, farmers, fisherfolk, and other workers in the informal economy.</span></p><p>“We may also craft a special SSS contribution table for 4Ps beneficiaries tailored to fit their paying capacity considering the current minimum monthly contribution of P570,” said SSS president Rolando Macasaet.</p><p>Macasaet said that SSS is exploring several options to help 4Ps beneficiaries pay the 120 monthly voluntary contributions required to qualify for a lifetime pension when they reach retirement.</p><p>He said the agency is also studying the possibility of reducing the minimum monthly SSS contribution from P570 to a much more affordable amount.</p><div><a href="https://news.abs-cbn.com/business/2024/8/20/sss-cites-5-delinquent-employers-in-makati-1356">SSS cites 5 delinquent employers in Makati</a></div><p>He said a lower monthly premium could mean they will receive lower benefits upon retirement.
