MANILA — More than 500 small business owners, aspiring entrepreneurs and students attended Go Negosyo’s  3M on Wheels entrepreneurship roadshow on Saturday.

Lea Apuyan, whose catering business was shutdown because of the COVID-19 pandemic, was among those who came to seek advise from the dozens of mentors who joined the event.

The 3M on Wheels features a lineup of some of the country’s most successful entrepreneurs and top business executives, including Filipino alumni of the Harvard Business School Owner/President Management Program.

According to Rosemarie Rafael, Chairperson of the Women’s Business Council of the Philippines and logistics company Airspeed, many of her mentees asked about how to start a business.

“Nagkakaroon sila ng challenges with regards to access to funds and access to market.

Go Negosyo Founder Joey Concepcion also said that while many micro, small and medium enterprises (MSME) have recovered from the pandemic lockdowns, financing is still a big problem for many, especially those that are just starting out.

Go Negosyo also partnered with the Department of Trade and Industry, with Acting DTI Secretary Ma. Crisitina Aldeguer-Roque stressing the importance of the collaboration between government and the private sector to help uplift small-scale businesses.

“We really need to work with the big businesses to be able to help the small industries kasi nasa kanila yung pwesto, nasa kanila rin yung funding, nasa kanila rin yung know-how,” said Roque.
