<p>MANILA -- Kadiwa sites in some National Irrigation Administration offices have started selling rice for P29 per kilo, the Department of Agriculture announced on Wednesday. </p><p>NIA centers in Regions 3, 4A, 4B, and CARAGA are selling rice at a lower price in partnership with Irrigators’ Association.</p><div><a class="fr-green fr-strong" href="https://news.abs-cbn.com/business/2024/7/31/p45-per-kilo-rice-to-be-sold-in-select-kadiwa-stores-starting-august-1629">P45 per kilo rice to be sold in select Kadiwa Stores starting August  </a></div><p>DA Spokesperson Assistant Secretary Arnel De Mesa said around 120 tons of rice was subsidized by NIA under contract farming in hopes to tame inflation.<br/>This is under NIA’s contract farming program with irrigator groups. </p><p>“Nakipagcontract farming is NIA with Irrigators Association, nagbigay ng subsidy, hinarvest, minill, ang nagbebenta mismo itong Irrigators Association sa Kadiwa,” De Mesa said.</p><p>“Ang objective nila is makapagbigay ulit ng oportunidad sa mga mamimili na makabili ng mas murang bigas sa malapit na area ng Irrigators Association,” he added.</p><div><a class="fr-green fr-strong" href="https://news.abs-cbn.com/business/2024/8/2/p45-rice-for-all-cheaper-rice-should-be-sold-not-just-in-kadiwa-stores-retailers-905">P45 rice for all: Cheaper rice should be sold not just in Kadiwa stores - retailers</a></div><p>Vulnerable sector will be prioritized in the distribution but everyone can buy in identified Kadiwa sa NIA centers, according to De Mesa. </p><p>A daily purchase limit of 10 kilograms per person is set to prevent hoarding of stocks. </p><p>Rice stocks sold at a lower price in NIA centers are available until supplies last.</p>
