MANILA - Jollibee Foods Corp said its subsidiary is looking to open Milksha-branded stores in the United States.

In a disclosure to the stock exchange, JFC said its subsidiaries, Milkshop Japan Inc and MKSA LLC (MKSA), have entered a license agreement where MKSA was granted the right to open and operate Milksha stores in California, New York, and Texas in the US.

"Franchising opportunities for other locations in the USA outside of the three states are likewise available through Milkshop Japan Inc," the company said.

Jollibee acquired a majority stake in Milkshop International Co. Ltd. (“Milksha”) in November 2021, with Milkshop Japan Inc., a Japanese corporation, being part of the acquisition deal. MKSA LLC, a Delaware-based company, was formed to be the license holder to open and operate Milksha branded stores in the US, Jollibee said.

Milksha currently has outlets in several countries, including Taiwan, Hong Kong, Australia and the United Kingdom. Milksha products are also sold in around 162 Chowking stores in the Philippines.

JFC said that as of July this year, it was operating 6,965 stores across several brands worldwide. The company has been expanding globally by acquiring fast-growing brands from different countries.
