BERLIN, Germany - Some PC games are better played with a keyboard and mouse. Other games are best played using a controller or joystick. Meanwhile, designers and engineers at Acer said a good gaming laptop should have the best of both worlds.

Ahead of the official opening of the IFA Berlin tech expo, Acer showed off a concept laptop called Project DualPlay, which carries a controller that can be popped out of trackpad for titles that are best played with button-mashing combos.

“Players can easily wield the wireless controller from its electromagnetic lock by simply placing two fingers on the release button located on top of the keyboard. This action also triggers the two high-fidelity, 5-watt pop-out speakers to emerge from the sides of the laptop, immersing players in heart-pounding audio that brings every scene to life.”

While Project DualPlay created a stir among tech journalists covering Acer's event, the company has not announced if it intends to push through with the concept.
