<blockquote class="twitter-tweet" data-lang="en"><p dir="ltr" lang="en">The House is proposing to delete &quot;love&quot; in the preamble of the new constitution. &quot;Love&quot; is in the current preamble. <a href="https://t.co/RLYXSziiKe">pic.twitter.com/RLYXSziiKe</a></p>— RG Cruz ABS-CBN News (@1rgcruz) <a href="https://twitter.com/1rgcruz/status/953205656336519168?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">January 16, 2018</a></blockquote><div><script async="" src="https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charSet="utf-8" type="text/javascript"></script></div><p><br/>MANILA - For lawmakers, there is apparently no room for &quot;love&quot; in the organic law. </p><p>A House of Representatives sub-committee has proposed to delete the word &quot;love&quot; in the 1987 Constitution amid discussions on constitutional amendments, saying the word &quot;has no place in a Constitution.&quot; </p><p>The proposal seeks to amend the preamble, the opening statement of the 31-year-old Constitution that declares the people&#x27;s promulgation of the organic law. </p><p>The current preamble reads: &quot;We, the sovereign Filipino people, imploring the aid of Almighty God, in order to build a just and humane society, and establish a Government that shall embody our ideals and aspirations, promote the common good, conserve and develop our patrimony, and secure to ourselves and our posterity, the blessings of independence and democracy under the rule of law and a regime of truth, justice, freedom, love, equality, and peace, do ordain and promulgate this Constitution.&quot;</p><p>Deleting &quot;love&quot; from the Constitution is among the proposals of the subcommittee assigned to tackle the preamble, the articles on national territory, federal and state principles, general and transitory provisions.</p><p>Copies of the proposed amendments were circulated to the media as the committee on Constitutional Amendments discussed what would be submitted to the planned constituent assembly for approval and submission to a plebiscite.</p>
