While his character is a reckless bachelor, the actor is actually a responsible and hands-on dad to his son Gido.He may seemingly not have social media at present, but his partner Meryll Soriano, to whom he got back with after going on separate ways around a decade ago, has been sharing photos of him and their child Gido.We’re able to get a further glimpse of how he is as a father and the head of their family through their one-on-one interview in the special Father’s Day vlog of the award-winning actress uploaded last June 19 in her YouTube channel.“Hindi siya maipu-put into words, hindi siya kayang i-explain kung ano ‘yong nararamdaman ko noong dumating si Gido,” this was his response when asked how he felt upon seeing Baby Gido for the first time.Although he and Meryll had already talked about having a baby, it still felt surreal for him when Baby Gido was born in December 2020. He found it difficult to process his emotions then and was really unsure what to do. But what’s certain was how joyous he was with the arrival of their son.When asked how he realized that he wanted to have a child and build a family, he recalled quizzing Meryll about the idea of having another one after her son Elijah, who she had from a past relationship. And when she told him that she still wishes to have a baby, he was indeed over the moon.Even though they’ve already considered themselves a family with Elijah, who Joem was able to take good care of when they initially became a couple around a decade ago and was only two years old then, having Gido is such a delightful gift for them.As a hands-on dad, the 34-year-old actor was able to experienced taking good care of Baby Gido all by himself when Meryll had to go on a lock-in taping for three days for an episode of <a href="https://ent.abs-cbn.com/maalaalamokaya">Maalaala Mo Kaya.</a> He recalled how challenging it was for him as a first-time dad and since their son was still being breastfed by Meryll during that time.He had seemingly become busy in the previous months because of <a href="https://ent.abs-cbn.com/tbmv2022">The Broken Marriage Vow</a> and <a href="https://ent.abs-cbn.com/foe2022">Flower of Evil,</a> yet he made sure to make the most of his time with them. Aside from changing his diapers, to which he’s the one mainly in-charge, he also gets to bond with Gido by playing ball with him, letting him ride his mini car, and taking a bath together.If there’s one trait of Joem their son has probably inherited, the couple disclosed that it would be his being crabby or masungit. With regards to the notable changes that fatherhood has brought to him, he implied that he has become more responsible and focused on his priorities, as well as a certified home buddy.It was also through this vlog in which Meryll and Joem revealed that they already agreed that Gido will be their first and last baby.With regards to her special messaged for her partner, the 39-year-old actress stated, “Si Papa Joem kasi, he’s really the best dad ever.
