20 powerful hero-villain confrontations of Jane and Janella in “Mars Ravelo’s Darna”

Through Mars Ravelo’s Darna's seven months on air, Jane de Leon and Janella Salvador proved themselves to be a power tandem. As the series hits its finale week, Kapamilya Toplist honors their hard work and brilliance as we collate their fierce, powerful hero-villain confrontations.

Jane and Janella’s character interactions were brilliantly done, even those where one of them is in human form. The list commenced with their heavy arguments about justice. The Martean warrior believes that justice means redemption while the snake woman equates it to death. There was a scene where Darna (Jane) stormed to Regina (Janella)’s office and schooled her about morality. In many instances, they would clash because Darna saves even the Extras, who she looks upon as just victims of Borgo (Richard Quan)’s wickedness. Valentina, on the other hand, wishes to be the hero by eliminating all criminals in Nueva Esperanza, and that includes the Extras infected by agreen element called chrysalis.

Their opposing views led to a clash at the building where they hold their day jobs, the Vanguardia Rescue. In this scene, as Valentina’s minions smothered Boy Chop-Chop (Henz Villaraiz), Darna showed her power move by clutching the snake tentacles.

With her narcissistic mentality, Valentina tried to steal the spotlight from the hero of Nueva Esperanza, exalting herself as the better fighter with a more noble intention, which is to revive peace by killing the other Extras. But there was a confrontation scene in a warehouse where Darna said she has no time for the Serpent Queen before flying off. With her enemy showing no interest in her, Valentina erupted into full-blown beast mode.

The succeeding confrontation in the forest shows Darna knocking Valentina down with just one punch and then going on to save lives because, again, she chooses her battles.

Valentina, however, is so unstoppable she invites herself to situations like gatecrashing at a party hosted by Rodriguez, Regina’s rival in court. She launched her minions – two large snakes, which Darna was able to clutch until the snake woman loses stance. It was an intelligent move . However, the villainess managed to escape.

Then, the inevitable happened. Triggered by jealousy, Regina accidentally revealed her demonic alter-ego in front of a crowd at the Nueva Esperanza Charity Ball. While we thought Darna would mellow down for friendship’s sake, she was surprisingly more determined to fight to oust the villain from Regina’s body.

At that point, the snake was finally out, and eager to slither into her enemy’s territory. Valentina still believes she’s the greater hero, or that she is the only hero. In an encounter, she criticized Darna for being self-righteous and protector of the real villains, the Extras. Darna didn’t want to waste time by hearing out her rival’s angry chatter. Instead, she grabbed a chain using her super speed ability and shackled Valentina to a panel until the cops arrived.

The public hate all the more turned Regina’s heart into a dark, rotten piece. She slithers across the streets of Nueva Esperanza, victimizing innocent people, especially those who fear her as a monster. She attacked at the police station and killed a fraction of Brian’s Task Force using her venom, which caused foaming at her victims’ mouths. Darna would arrive each time, resulting in fantastic action.

The fight involving Brian (Joshua Garcia) was a personal matter between them. Valentina attempts to kill Brian by throttling him with her snakes. Darna came to the rescue. The serpent woman gets the upper hand in the beginning since Darna took the time to check on Brian. Yet, Planet Marte’s warrior regained momentum and fought violently Valentina was forced to back off.

When we talk about their badass brawls, we can’t leave out the mid-air clash when Darna saved Nueva Esperanza’s acting mayor. They went into battle mode up in the air until one of them tumbled. The fight continued, with Darna’s superb moves blocking Valentina’s venom while the cops threw a barrage of bullets. The action was well done, as is the acting of everyone in that scene.

We knew their friendship was impossible to save when Borgo, posing as Rex Vanguardia, hatched a nefarious plan. He called Narda using Regina’s voice. The confrontation resulted in a fight in which Rex pretended to have fallen dead off a cliff. Regina transformed into Valentina and vowed to get back at Narda’s family to avenge her father’s death.

It seemed only Narda’s downfall could appease Valentina’s struggle. Motivated by vengeance, she used Ding (Zaijian Jaranilla) as a lure against Narda, who, much to her shock, transformed into Darna right in front of her. Flashbacks of their friendship tapped into her vulnerability. She got so weak she let go of Ding and transformed back into Regina, crying over her best friend’s betrayal. This would be the last time Narda will see Regina in the flesh as the latter died in an explosion created by Borgo’s Super Soldiers.

The recent episodes night were intense. Valentina was resurrected and killed Brian, triggering Darna’s rage. The Valentina now is even more powerful that she was able to spread her venom all over Darna’s body. The question now is: How will Darna survive this super battle? We’re surely headed to a thrilling, explosive finale.
