This was “Darna” star Kim Rodriguez’s reaction when she first saw Jane and Janella in their costumes

Kim Rodriguez says being a Kapamilya revived her dreams in showbiz, and she’s extra thrilled to make her acting comeback via <a href="https://ent.abs-cbn.com/darna" target="_blank">Mars Ravelo’s Darna</a>.Kim was brimming with excitement on her first Kapamilya Chat guesting, amazed to finally be part of ABS-CBN and looking forward to working with the artists on her bucket list including her favorite love team, Kathryn Bernardo and Daniel Padilla, and her dream leading men Paulo Avelino and Jake Cuenca.“Hindi ako makapaniwala,” she exclaims when asked how it feels to be a Kapamilya and join the cast of <a href="https://ent.abs-cbn.com/darna" target="_blank">Mars Ravelo’s Darna</a>. She expresses gratitude, especially to drama unit JRB Creative Productions for giving her a warm welcome, “Nakakataba ng puso kasi tinanggap ako ng JRB Productions. Akala ko, before, tapos na ‘yung pangarap ko.”From there, she recalls the series of ‘losses’ during the pandemic that almost made her quit showbiz. Kim felt she lacked purpose when her manager who acted as her guardian passed away, “Parang siya na kasi ‘yung Mommy ko kasi mag-isa lang ako, eh. ‘Yung mommy and daddy ko hiwalay na. Si mommy nasa ibang bansa. So, mag-isa lang talaga ako dito. No’ng nawala siya, so wala ng nagga-guide sa akin.”She was clueless on how to make decisions about her career, “Hindi ko alam gagawin ko paano ba ‘to. Kasi usually hindi naman ako ‘yung nakikipag-usap, siya.”Also at the time, she finished her contract and stopped getting projects. “Parang nawalan ako ng pag-asa. Parang sabi ko, ‘Ano nang mangyayari sa akin?’ Parang ‘yung mahal mo biglang nawala, gano’n kasakit no’ng nawalan ako ng trabaho.”Kim found a second lease on her career after meeting Ogie Diaz, who would become her new manager. From her season of uncertainties, now she’s stepping onto a fresh start by playing Sandra, the sidekick of Planet Marte’s General Borgo, in <a href="https://ent.abs-cbn.com/darna" target="_blank">Mars Ravelo’s Darna</a>.Kim prepared for the role by enrolling in a Muay Thai class, and doing intermittent fasting to look more fit in her ‘pasabog’ outfits in the series. She thinks her past boxing sessions will also help in her action scenes. She’s also looking forward to more of her actual training for the teleserye. Apart from the physical preparations, Kim also made sure to deep-dive into her character through discussions with the creatives and Director Avel Sunpongco beforehand.As a frosh Kapamilya, she couldn’t help but fangirl on her first days in the bubble, especially upon seeing the lead stars Jane De Leon who plays Darna, and Janella Salvador as Valentina.“Nu’ng unang-unang magkaeksena kami ni Darna, natulala ako. Sabi ko, ‘Ang ganda mo naman. Bagay sa’yo.’ As in sobrang bagay kay Jane talaga ‘yung costume ng Darna,” she says about Jane.Kim continues, this time about Janella, “Hindi ko pa siya nakikita nang talagang super close ‘yung costume niya. Pa-pack up na ako no’n, siya rin magbibihis na. Palayo na siya no’n, nakatalikod, sabi ko, ‘Ang sexy naman nu’n! Si Janella ba ‘yun?’ As in, grabe, mapapa-wow ka talaga.” Janella’s Valentina costume in the previous episodes isn’t her final look yet.Asked to describe Jane further, she answers, “No’ng nakita ko siya, very powerful siya. She deserves Darna. Sobrang professional ni Jane. Sobrang galing niya. Kudos to Jane talaga!” She added that Jane works hard for the role and spends her rest day training instead. Kim has easily gelled with her co-stars, thanks to their off-cam bonding moments that involve cooking and pigging out.Kim invites Kapamilya viewers to watch out for her entrance in <a href="https://ent.abs-cbn.com/darna" target="_blank">Mars Ravelo’s Darna</a>, which airs weeknights, on <a href="http://kapamilyachannel.com/" target="_blank">Kapamilya Channel</a>, <a href="http://kapamilyaonlinelive.com" target="_blank">Kapamilya Online Live</a>, and A2Z.
