No dad is perfect, nor should men try to be. Although there are fathers who are tough on the surface and hide dark secrets, when it comes to loving their kids, they can soften their hearts naturally.

In Dirty Linen, some father characters come off as ambitious, but they can show what love is by the way they treat their children. With Father’s Day upon us, we fix our attention on the best ‘daddy’ moments from the trending teleserye.

Being a father to Nico (Seth Fedelin), and his foster daughters and son Alexa (Janine Gutierrez), Lala (Jennica Garcia), and Max (Christian Bables) is no easy task. Not to mention, he has huge emotional baggage to carry up to this day. That’s why Rolando (Joel Torre) deserves a break, a day when his family is complete and they just get to enjoy and breathe. The scene below paints the emotional bond of their unique family, proving that fatherhood is always about the heart and never just the blood.

In another scene, Rolando talked to Max and Lala about Nico’s plan to study at the same university as the young Fieros. Rolando won our hearts when he listened to Max and Lala’s advice to let Nico chase his dreams and let him live a normal life – away from bitterness and fear of crossing paths with the Fieros. He took their words to heart, which only shows that even fathers can learn from their children.

And when he prepared Nico’s school uniforms, which means he was giving him the green light, they pinched our hearts by sharing a tender moment. Beneath the revenge and hatred, Rolando is first and foremost a loving dad.

Next is the admirable way Carlos (John Arcilla) fathers Chiara (Francine Diaz), that is, despite his wickedness towards other people. During Chiara’s pool party, he interrogated Nico about his intentions. Just when everyone shivered in fear, Carlos laughed and said he was just joking. He just did what fathers normally do when a guy gets close to their precious baby. Dads have to make sure that their daughter’s potential suitor is qualified, right?

In the Fiero mansion, not everyone gets along well, but Carlos and Chiara’s closeness remained solid. He would let her ‘bunchuchay’ and ‘baby’ know how much he loves and cares for her, that’s why Chiara was devastated over Carlos’ death.

When it comes to Aidan (Zanjoe Marudo), however, Carlos uses his power, his mind than his heart when interacting with him. He’s more focused on having high expectations of Aidan, especially in his role in their family business, and encouraging him to deliver consistently. But even if he doesn’t verbalize his concern for Aidan, his reminders to him reveal that he only wants to prepare him to cope with the real world.

In one episode, he scolded Aidan for participating in Leona (Janice de Belen)’s fight club, which means he’s concerned about his safety, but most of all, he’s worried about how Aidan’s behavior might affect their family’s reputation. Here, he advised Aidan to always use his head.

Before the scandal that almost broke their family, the Pavias were just happy, as their patriarch Ador (Epy Quizon) made them feel loved – and spoiled. Ador is often deemed the weakest in the Fiero group, sometimes funny and dangerous, but always full of love when it comes to his kids and wife, Feliz (Angel Aquino).

The father-daughter moments between Diego (Arnold Reyes) and the young Alexa (Erika Clemente) tugged at our heartstrings. When there were just the two of them, Diego would wait for Alexa to come home from school and delightfully offer her the delicious meals he cooked, often her favorite adobo. Despite his physical disability, Diego’s dedication to Alexa will make you shed tears.
