20 scenes that encapsulate Aidan and Alexa’s real but heartbreaking romance in “Dirty Linen”

In the world of revenge, love can be a dangerous game to play. Aidan (Zanjoe Marudo) has completely fallen for the trap set by Alexa/Mila (Janine Gutierrez), who broke her promise of no mercy. For a romance soused in drama, pain, and vengeance, theirs is heartbreaking but still as real as it gets.

They first met as kids when Alexa sneaked inside the Fiero household to ask for her mother Olivia (Dolly de Leon)’s whereabouts. Sixteen years later, they crossed paths through an accident plotted by Alexa and her friends to get their revenge rolling.

After the accident, she went to the Fiero abode as instructed but disguised as Mila. Instead of taking the monetary compensation Doña Cielo (Tessie Tomas) offered, she asked if she could be hired as a house helper, insisting that she’d rather work hard for the money she will use for her sibling’s schooling. Before Alexa managed to leave, Aidan approached her to ask if they have seen each other prior to the accident. Though she clearly remembers, she replied that she’s just new in town.

Alexa is a wise woman in that she knew when to sow ‘emotions’ in Aidan’s cold heart. During an event at Blazing Fiero Farms, she played with his favorite chicken named Thunder. They searched for the chicken after it ran loose, giving Alexa the chance to get close to Aidan and win him over. She displayed her funny and charming side by bantering with him and performing a chant that is said to attract animals.

Whether it was because of the chant or just pure luck, she was able to get the chicken. They were both covered in mud after tripping while walking home. But instead of getting mad like he was a while ago, Aidan laughed it off and appeared comfortable with Alexa.

At times when he’s reeling from his family’s overwhelming problems, he would take comfort in Alexa’s presence and wise words. This planted the seeds of their closeness, which grew into love. Their first kiss happened. Aidan knew he is ready to break the rules for Alexa.

Because of love, he turned into quite a rebel in the sense that he started to dismiss his family’s requests and advice. He was ready to elope and leave his life of opulence so they could both fit into a world of love and quiet. There came a point when Alexa wanted to leave to save herself from the Fieros’ wrath, but Aidan promised to take care of everything.

True to his words, he made sure that she would feel safe amidst the drama in his family and promised to protect everyone she loves. ‘Kilig’ would soar high whenever he would look her in the eye, and then enfold her in his arms. All he asks is her trust that they will face the world together – them against the world.

Love takes courage, they say. It isn’t easy, but Aidan boldly made a move to prove his love by introducing Alexa as his girlfriend despite the consequences.

In another scene, he said that he wanted to hear her say that she loves him. And when she did, he was the happiest. This brings us to their sweet scene where Aidan turned playful by giving Mila lots of kisses and laughter.

It didn’t take long before he started thinking about marriage. Even without a ring yet, he was certain of what he wanted. Right there and then, in the middle of an intimate conversation, the couple got engaged.

To further prove his love, he married her without telling his family so there’d be no objections. He also promised to marry her in church once he fixes the mess. The woman whom Aidan didn’t expect to come into his life has become his wife. The look in his eye as they exchanged vows spoke a love so deep that it can’t be defined by wealth, too deep that it seems infinite.

However, we all know beneath Alexa's vow of love is also her promise of revenge. Their simple dreams together fell to pieces with the revelation of Alexa/Mila’s true identity and Aidan’s crime.
