In the past two decades, we can say that Zanjoe Marudo has indeed already gone a long way when it comes to his career. From being a ramp, print ad, and commercial model who skyrocketed to immense popularity when he joined Pinoy Big Brother Celebrity Edition 1 in 2006, he went on to become one of the most sought-after leading man of his generation.

He’s able to display his versatility as an artist through his slew of stints in television and movies, and just when we thought that he has already showcased his range as an actor, the dashing and talented Batangueño is yet to astound us anew in his portrayal of Aidan Fiero in the much-awaited ABS-CBN primetime series Dirty Linen.

And while we’re anticipating its premiere on January 23, let’s look back on some of his remarkable stints in ABS-CBN programs in this Kapamilya Spotlight feature!

He may have fallen short in his bid to becoming the Big Winner of PBB Celebrity Edition 1, but the support Zanjoe receives in every project he does has been truly overwhelming. He had his acting debut via the “Love Letters” episode of Maalaala Mo Kaya and in the weekly sitcom Aalog-alog.

After taking on the superhero role of Super Islaw in the Super Inggo, he charmed us as one of the leading men of Anne Curtis in the 2008 fantaserye Dyosa. The year 2009 was a busy one for him as he appeared in five Kapamilya shows – comedy programs Parekoy and Banana Split, teleseryes The Wedding and Sineserye Presents: Florinda, and the Filipino adaptation of the Korean drama Lovers in Paris.

From top-billing several episodes of MMK and two narratives of Precious Hearts Romances Presents in 2010 and 2011, he went on to make our afternoons scorching as the leading man of Megan Young in PHR Presents: Hiyas.

The 40-year-old actor eventually accepted daddy roles, with Guido Querubin in the 2013 incarnation of the classic 80s soap opera Annaliza, topbilled by Andrea Brillantes, as his first. It was succeeded by his endearing portrayal as the foster dad of child star Jana Agoncillo in Dream Dad in 2014 and as the loving father of Heart Ramos in My Dear Heart in 2017.

He then found himself torn between two gorgeous lovers in the 2016 afternoon soap opera Tubig At Langis, wherein his character Natoy became more popular in 2020 in light of its re-run across ABS-CBN platforms. After astounding us with his notable portrayals in the “Kweba” and “Anino” episodes of MMK in 2016, he continued to impress us with his performances in the “Tangke” (2018) and “Balsa” (2019) episodes of the long-running drama anthology.

Zanjoe had his first-ever foray in daytime drama in 2018 through Playhouse, wherein he was paired with his former Banana Split co-star Angelica Panganiban. They once again became an on-screen couple in the 2020 primetime drama Walang Hanggang Paalam, in which he’s able to exhibit his facet as a kontrabida.

And in 2022, he was once again given the opportunity to showcase his acting caliber through his compelling performance as the manipulative and philandering husband David Ilustre in The Broken Marriage Vow, the Pinoy adaptation of the hit British series Doctor Foster, which Korean remake “The World of a Married Couple,” was broadcast by ABS-CBN locally in 2020.

Are you excited as us to see Zanjoe in a different light? Well, you better not miss an episode of Dirty Linen once it starts airing on January 23 in Kapamilya Channel, Kapamilya Online Live, A2Z, and TV5.
