The hit drama “Halik” on Thursday reached a climactic turn with the confirmation of Lino (Jericho Rosales) being the father of Jade’s (Yam Concepcion) baby, sending ripples of dramatic confrontations in an episode that once again dominated Twitter trends.

In the January 3 episode of the RSB Drama production, a stunned Lino struggled to come to terms with the result of the paternity test. Not only did it mean reuniting with his estranged wife to look after her pregnancy, it also nipped in the bud what appeared to be a blossoming romance with Jacky (Yen Santos).

Initially in denial about the cause of her heartbreak, a tearful Jacky confided in her friends that the hurt did stem from the dashed hope of finding happiness with Lino, after her broken marriage with Ace (Sam Milby).

“Ang sakit pala. Hindi ko alam, hindi ko in-expect . . . Gumuho ‘yung chance na maging masaya ako ulit,” she said.

Ace, who had been convinced he was the father of Jade’s baby, was nowhere to be found after being faced with the harsh truth.

The truth was bitter, too, for Lino, who had been making strides in moving on from Jade’s betrayal. He no longer wanted to do anything with the woman who broke his trust, but now had to contend with the fact that they were to become parents of the same child.

This meant bringing Jade to a home where she was shunned. Her presence despised by Lino’s family, the helpless Jade could only shed tears at the thought of intruding the same people who had loved her and whom she hurt after cheating on her husband.

Lino, however, would not have it and stood up for Jade — because she was the mother of his child, and not because of their romantic past, he made clear.

For the first time since their bitter separation, Lino and Jade were to share a bedroom once again, but in a decision meant to draw a line between his responsibility as a father and any delusion of renewed commitment, Lino opted to sleep elsewhere and left his wife to herself.
