File/Composite</div></figcaption></figure></div>MANILA – Billy Crawford on Saturday was finally able to pay his respects to showbiz icon German &quot;Kuya Germs&quot; Moreno, the man he considers a father figure.Crawford was out of the country when Moreno passed away on Friday morning due to cardiac arrest. He was 82.In an interview with ABS-CBN News and other reporters, Crawford said Moreno’s death came as a shock to him.“Hindi ko lang talaga alam kung anong sasabihin ko. Nung tinawagan ko si Kuya Freddie, nasa hospital sila. Pagtawag ko sa kanya, bigla na lang sabi niya sa akin, ‘Bro, magpapaalam na si Papa. Kausapin mo.’ So utal-utal &#x27;yung utak ko. Hindi ko alam kung anong sasabihin ko. Kinakausap ko siya tapos obviously wala namang response. Nung naputol kami, doon nag-register kung ano &#x27;yung nangyayari,” he recalled.Asked if he was able to tell Moreno everything that he wanted to say, Crawford said: “There’s always a time na pag-iisipan mo na sana nasabi ko ito or sana nakita ko siya before he passed away. Ganoon talaga. It came as a shock to everyone.”Crawford got his big break in show business after he became a regular at the now-defunct youth-oriented show &quot;That&#x27;s Entertainment.&quot; He transferred to ABS-CBN in 2008, much to the dismay of Moreno. The two have since reconciled.“Hindi naman mawawala &#x27;yun sa pamilya. Si Papa ay laging nandiyan to scold you. Si Kuya Germs kasi isa sa pinaka-professional at pinaka-loyal &#x27;yan. It really hurt him for a while na nagkahiwalay kami ng landas. At the end of the day, siguro hindi niya talaga matiis ang pagmamahal niya sa mga anak niya,” he said.Saying he owes everything to Moreno, Crawford said: “Hindi lang siya basta tatay ko sa showbiz. Siya na rin ang isa sa nagpalaki sa akin. He is my so-called father as well. Wala naman ako dito kung wala ang isang Kuya Germs sa buhay ko.”
