MANILA – Sarah Geronimo and John Lloyd Cruz are both excited to be reunited with each other more than three years since they last worked on a big screen project together.

The two are the lead stars of the upcoming Star Cinema movie “Dear Future Husband” to be directed by “Vince & Kath & James” filmmaker Theodore Boborol.

According to Geronimo, the idea behind their reunion film came unexpectedly and they have ABS-CBN chief content officer Charo Santos Concio to thank.

“Nagkataon noong umakyat si Ma’am Charo nung Christmas special, sabi niya, ‘O, gagawa pa ba kayo ng movie ni Lloydie?’ Nagulat ako. Siyempre si Ma’am Charo, nakakahiya mag-decline. ‘Opo!!!’ Gusto rin naman ng mga tao. Nandito naman tayo para paligayahin ang mga tao,'” she said.

Cruz, for his part, said it’s about time they do another movie because fans have been clamoring for it.

“I am always excited na makasama si Sarah. It’s been a while. Matagal-tagal na 'yung huling pagsasama namin. Kapag tumagal pa, baka hindi na mangyari. Dapat mangyari na siya. Life is short,” he said.

Since people already associate them to Miggy and Laida -- their characters in their last three movies together -- Cruz and Geronimo plan to exert a conscious effort so they can give life to new characters in “Dear Future Husband.”

“Iiwas na sa medyo pabebe. Galing na tayo doon. 'Yung angkop na sa mga edad namin. Galing sa title mismo ng pelikula na ‘Dear Future Husband,’ siyempre dadating sa buhay natin na gusto din natin magkaroon ng sariling pamilya,” Geronimo explained.

More than anything, Cruz said he wants their fans who waited so long to enjoy what he and Geronimo will offer.

“Hindi lang naman 'yung magandang pelikula. Since napaka-subjective ng beauty these days, siguro itong pelikulang ito, ang talagang gusto kong makita is 'yung mga tao na naghihintay, nanabik, naka-miss sa aming samahan ay mapaligaya sila. Matapos namin ito at maipalabas sa kanila, gusto namin makita sila na fulfilled, masaya at hindi nabigo ang matagal na paghihintay,” he said.

Cruz and Geronimo will start filming by the end of January or early February and their movie will be released in theaters during the second quarter of the year.

Aside from its title, no other details about the movie have been revealed.
