It was back in 2016 when it first came to light that they're dating, after JC Santos nabbed a starring role in "Till I Met You."

But the actor's girlfriend, Joan Kristin Villanueva, has sparked concern earlier this week, after her comments on Instagram strongly implied that they have decided to end their relationship.

She first courted speculation when she cryptically posted a black image with the words, "Time discovers truth."

Her friends and followers immediately jumped to the conclusion that she had broken things off with Santos, with some even saying that they hope that they will get back together.

Villanueva was quick to reject those suggestions, describing Santos as a man who "can't be trusted."

It was last Tuesday when Santos hinted at trouble in his relationship, saying that both he and his girlfriend have different priorities and have decided to do things separately at the moment.

"It's a different path iyong napuntahan namin," he admitted.

He also said that while he would like to patch things up with her, his career has more weight when it comes to his decisions. "Pangarap ko ito," he said.

Reporters spoke with Santos about the rumors at the press conference for his upcoming movie, "Mr. & Mrs. Cruz," a co-production between Viva Films and Idea First Company.

In a past interview, Villanueva, a theater actress, said that Santos' busy schedule hasn't been an issue in their relationship.

She even said that they're very supportive of each other, and trade notes to help them better their craft.
