<div class="embed-wrap"><figure data-feedback="fb:likes,fb:comments"><img src="http://sa.kapamilya.com/absnews/abscbnnews/media/2020/entertainment/01/27/20200127-nancy-mcdonie.jpg?ext=.jpg"/><figcaption>Nancy McDonie of the K-pop girl group MOMOLAND shares new details about her Philippine drama debut ‘Soulmate Project.’ <em>ABS-CBN News</em></figcaption></figure></div><p>MANILA — K-pop star Nancy McDonie is all set for her Philippine drama debut via ABS-CBN’s “Soulmate Project” with James Reid.</p><p>McDonie, best known to Filipinos as part of the girl group MOMOLAND, revealed that filming of the series is scheduled to start in February.</p><p>Antoinette Jadaone (“Alone/Together,” “Never Not Love You”) is reuniting with Reid and Dreamscape Entertainment (“On the Wings of Love,” “Till I Met You”) as writer and director of this new project.</p><p>McDonie shared updates about “Soulmate Project” over the weekend, on the sidelines of a cleanup drive for Manila Bay as part of an upcoming reality TV series in South Korea.</p><p>“I started doing workshops [when I was last in Manila]. Now, there are workshops planned with James in the future,” McDonie told ABS-CBN News’ MJ Felipe.</p><p>The series, she confirmed, will be partly set in the Philippines as well as her home country, saying: “I’m going to stay here for a while. It’s planned in Korea, too.”</p><div class="embed-wrap"><figure data-feedback="fb:likes,fb:comments"><img src="http://sa.kapamilya.com/absnews/abscbnnews/media/2020/entertainment/01/27/20200127-soulmate-proj.jpg?ext=.jpg"/></figure></div><p>Asked what details she can share about the story, McDonie quipped, “It’s a secret!”</p><p>“I can’t tell you much, but I can tell you that my character is Korean-American who lives in the Philippines,” she said.</p><p>Jadaone was similarly tight-lipped on the subject in a previous interview, but did divulge that “Soulmate Project,” in terms of format, will be more comparable to K-drama or Western TV series.</p><p>Unlike the traditional teleserye, it is <a href="https://news.abs-cbn.com/entertainment/11/05/19/why-james-and-nancys-soulmate-project-wont-be-your-typical-teleserye">set for a 13-episode run</a> and will be “canned.” That means the entire series will have been done filming by the time it premieres.</p><p>“Soulmate Project” was among the titles confirmed for a release this year, as seen in ABS-CBN’s “Sama-Sama Tayo sa 2020” trailer released early this month.</p><p>McDonie is aware of the excitement surrounding her acting debut.
