MANILA - "Pangako Sa 'Yo" once again broke the heart of viewers with another tragic wedding.

Angelo (Daniel Padilla) and Yna (Kathryn Bernardo) were ready to tie the knot in a simple ceremony.

Eager to spend the rest of their lives together, the young couple decorated the wedding venue with white balloons, ferns, and flowers. They invited a judge for the ceremony, with no other witness but their friend Monay (Mickey Ferriols).

It was simple: no extravagant entourage, no festive reception, and no fancy rings. All they have is commitment and love.

They did not ask for the consent of their parents because they are in the right age to decide for themselves.

The sad truth

The moon was up when the ceremony started. The surroundings were covered with darkness, but Yna's simple white dress sparkled. Angelo was stunned as his soon-to-be wife slowly walked down the aisle.

After the exchange of rings, the two started saying their wedding vows. The wedding was almost finished when Amor (Jodi Sta. Maria) came running to the altar.

"Sandali! Itigil niyo ang kasal! Hindi kayo puwedeng ikasal," she said.

A deafening silence followed. After gasping for air, Amor continued, "Ikaw si Maria Amor, Yna. Anak ka namin ni Eduardo. Magkapatid kayo."

At first, Yna did not believe what she just heard. Perhaps, it was one of Amor's ways to avenge the death of David (Diego Loyzaga).

Angelo, who was enraged by the commotion, held Yna's hand and asked her to go with him. He wanted to leave and continue the wedding somewhere else.

But Amor was insistent. To prove her claim, she showed a photo of Yna when she was still young. It was the same photo she showed to Nanay Belen (Amy Austria) when she learned about the truth a few hours back.

Yna, who was still unconvinced, decided to go with Angelo. But as they headed out of the venue, Amor started singing a lullaby.

"Tulog na baby kong mahal. Tulog na baby kong mahal. Tulog na baby kong, mahal ko."

Yna was held back by the familiar voice. Although she could not picture the face of her real mother, she knew it was the same voice that sang to her when she was a toddler.

At that point, she looked at Amor and slowly loosened her grip on Angelo's hand. Tears began flowing on her cheeks. She knew that Amor is indeed her real mother.

Amor hugged Yna, who fell on her knees. It was the most heart-breaking revelation. Angelo, on the other hand, ran into the woods in an attempt to escape from the nightmare.

"Itong nangyari sa inyo ni Angelo, hindi ko alam kung papano ako babawi. Kung kaya kong lang protektahan ka sa lahat ng sakit. Kung puwede lang na ako na lang ang masaktan. Anak, I'm sorry," Amor told Yna.

She tried to explain everything and comfort Yna by reassuring her that she would never leave now.

"Sobra po akong naguguluhan. Hindi ko alam ung anong dapat kong maramdaman ngayon," Yna said.

Yna and Angelo were not the only ones in pain. Amor and Eduardo also felt the intense sadness. They were in the same situation during their ruined wedding: so close, but still so far.
