MANILA -- "I got a different kind of fulfillment from writing and directing, compared to acting. It's like I told my own story, I didn't just play in it," says Joross Gamboa, as he reflected on the experience of directing his first-ever movie, "Allergy in Love."

For the sexy rom-com, Gamboa collaborated with producer Neil Arce and actors Ketchup Eusebio and Pocholo Barretto -- and the actor acknowledges that it is a more difficult process.

"All I can say is that directing is harder than acting," he said.

"Allergy in Love" is about a man who suffers from an extreme allergic reaction whenever he gets an erection. This leads to him to become an advocate of self-love and a best-selling author.

Things get complicated, however, when he falls for a fan who is obsessed with him as he knows that getting aroused may kill him.

The movie is currently the most-watched original on iWant, where it was first released last January 25.

In an Instagram post last month, Gamboa revealed that the idea just popped into their head when he got together with Arce and his friends back in 2017 and started conceptualizing a movie.

He recalled looking up online people who are allergic to being aroused. He was handed the task of writing a script for it and after a year, they were able to finish it for iWant.
