MANILA — Angel Locsin, Coco Martin, Regine Velasquez, and Vice Ganda were among the stars who expressed support for ABS-CBN on Monday after the Office of the Solicitor General (OSG) filed a quo warranto petition asking the Supreme Court to void the franchise of the broadcast network.

Locsin, a Kapamilya star since 2007, shared a logo of ABS-CBN with the caption: “Praying that the law shall be used to protect jobs, press freedom, justice and betterment of the Filipino people [praying emoji]”.

Martin, lead actor of the primetime stalwart “FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano,” posted the same image with the network’s legacy tagline, “In the service of the Filipino.”

“Mahabang taon na napatunayan ng ABS CBN na kahit ano man ang dumating na pagsubok sa ating bansa lagi sila nandyan para tumulong sa ating bayan!” Martin wrote.

He also shared with his followers the network’s statement on the allegations of the OSG and the supposed basis of its petition.

Velasquez, dubbed “Asia’s Songbird,” meanwhile, echoed hashtags that are circulating among supporters of the network: #WeDidNotViolateTheLaw and #InTheServiceOfTheFilipino.

Comedy superstar and “It’s Showtime” mainstay Vice Ganda joined the Twitter chorus using the hashtag #NoToABSCBNShutdown, which, as of writing, was the No. 1 trending topic in the Philippines.

“Ikalulungkot ng higit na nakararaming Pilipino sa Pilipinas at sa buong mundo kung isasara ang ABS-CBN,” he wrote.

Several other celebrities who similarly voiced out their support for ABS-CBN, through social media posts, included Liza Soberano, Gerald Anderson, Jolina Magdangal, Amy Perez, Karla Estrada, John Prats, Bianca Gonzalez, and JM de Guzman.
