<div class="embed-wrap"><figure data-feedback="fb:likes,fb:comments"><img src="http://sa.kapamilya.com/absnews/abscbnnews/media/2020/entertainment/02/10/kim-eula.jpg"/><figcaption>Jia (Kim Chiu) and her step-mother Lucy (Eula Valdez) clash in the first episoe of ‘Love Thy Woman’. <em>ABS-CBN</em></figcaption></figure></div><p>MANILA — “Love Thy Woman,” ABS-CBN’s newest afternoon drama, was off to a fierce start Monday with the brewing tension between the two sides of a Filipino-Chinese family.</p><p>The pilot episode of the Kapamilya Gold offering saw the first clash between the characters of Kim Chiu and Eula Valdez — the result of a complicated history involving Christopher de Leon’s Adam Wong.</p><p>Chiu’s Jia is Adam’s daughter with Kai (Sunshine Cruz), whom he met at a time when his marriage with Lucy (Valdez) had been turning cold, following the latter’s estrangement from her Chinese family and subsequent miscarriage.</p><p>At first enraged by her husband’s affair, Lucy realized she would stand to lose even more than she already has if she leaves Adam. Their firstborn, Dana (Yam Concepcion), would also grow up without a father.</p><p>Agreeing to a compromise with Adam, who was intent on helping raise his baby with Kai, Lucy ultimately welcomed the new additions to the family.</p><figure class="op-interactive"><iframe height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/fugyVVtM9OE?enablejsapi=1" width="560"></iframe></figure><div class="iwantbar">Watch more in <a href="//www.iwantv.com.ph/">iWantv</a> or <a href="//tfc.tv/">TFC.tv</a></div><p>While she claimed having forgiven both Adam and Kai, Lucy appears to still harbor ill feelings, especially towards Jia, going by the pilot’s present-day scenes.</p><p>As an adult, Jia joins the real estate company of her father, Dragon Empire, which means working, too, with her stepmother. Having the upper hand, Lucy discredits Jia’s efforts and ideas, making no secret of her dislike for the youngest Wong.</p><p>Further complications arise when Jia has a romantic encounter with David (Xian Lim), who turns out to be the boyfriend of her step-sister Dana, who is hinted to be pregnant.</p><p>Past trailers of “Love Thy Woman” showed that Jia and Dana’s relationship will be further strained by the presence of David — a case of history repeating itself, in light of their respective mothers’ standing in the Wong family.</p>
