MANILA — The closeness of Liza Soberano and Julia Barretto extends to candid conversations about their love life, such as which between their respective boyfriend is more conservative.

The topic was brought up during Soberano’s interview on “Tonight with Boy Abunda” that aired Thursday, as she described her relationship with her fellow actress.

Soberano and Barretto, along with Janella Salvador, were launched via the same Star Magic batch in 2013, and have remained close friends since. The three recently courted headlines after their good-humored comments on Barretto’s swimsuit photo on Instagram went viral.

Asked by host Boy Abunda whether they talk about boys when they get together, a laughing Soberano said they in fact do, and went on to give an example.

“Julia will tell me something about Joshua. It’s a struggle for her also na sobrang conservative si Joshua sa damit niya.

“She asked me, ‘Does Quen have that problem, too? Is he conservative with you?’ I’m like, ‘Yes, he’s like that also,’” she narrated.

Barretto, in recent interviews, has been forthcoming about Garcia’s preference for her to wear less revealing clothes. That revelation spurred what became Barretto’s widely praised admission that instead of wearing bras, she uses nipple tapes.

“I think it would be normal for any guy to be protective of someone they care about, because that just shows that they love or they care about that person,” Soberano said.

Recalling what she told Barretto, Soberano added: “Yes, he (Gil) is conservative, but I don’t think he is as conservative as Joshua, because Quen gives me the freedom naman to wear what I want.”

Soberano’s refreshing openness about her relationship with Gil follows their recent admission of being a couple. In the same “Tonight with Boy Abunda” interview on Thursday, Soberano also confirmed that they have been officially together since 2014, the year their love team was formed.
