<div class="embed-wrap"><figure data-feedback="fb:likes,fb:comments"><img src="https://sa.kapamilya.com/absnews/abscbnnews/media/2019/tvpatrol/02/17/20190221-shadowace.jpg"/><figcaption>Philip Galit a.k.a Shadow Ace reacts to advancing to the ‘Asia’s Got Talent’ semifinals straight from his audition. <em>Screenshot/AXN</em></figcaption></figure></div><p>MANILA — A Filipino act jumped straight to the semifinals of “Asia’s Got Talent” (AGT) after rousing the audience to a standing ovation with his unique “hand shadow” performance in the search’s February 21 episode.</p><p>A “Pilipinas Got Talent” semifinalist in 2016, Philip Galit a.k.a Shadow Ace took to the stage with an act reminiscent of past “AGT” champion and compatriots El Gamma Penumbra’s shadow play — only he did it alone, and only with his hands.</p><p>The one-of-a-kind performance had the audience members and the judges laughing, as it not only showcased Ace’s impressively nimble fingers transforming into all sorts of shapes, it also had comedic timing.</p><p>“It’s a silly little thing, I guess, to play with your hands and make figures like that,” judge David Foster told Ace. “But, I tell you, I forgot that they were hands. I loved that performance.”</p><p>Jay Park called the depictions of pole-dancing and using a hula hoop “brilliant,” adding that Shadow Ace’s act was “by far the best” shadow act he has seen.</p><p>From the side of the stage, hosts Alan Wong and Justin Bratton were similarly impressed — so much so that they used their allocated golden buzzer press on Shadow Ace, making the Filipino automatically advance to the semifinals.</p><p>Meanwhile, another performer familiar to Filipino viewers, 12-year-old Rock Opong, also auditioned in the Thursday episode of “Asia’s Got Talent.”</p><figure class="op-interactive"><iframe src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/qhxFOjmIFdw?enablejsapi=1"></iframe></figure><div class="iwantbar">Watch more in <a href="//www.iwantv.com.ph/">iWantv</a> or <a href="//tfc.tv/">TFC.tv</a></div><p>The young singer, who previously joined ABS-CBN’s “The Voice Kids” in 2015, gave a heartfelt rendition of “True Colors” using his own handmade guitar.</p><p>Foster lauded Opong, saying “the playing and the singing were really, really good,” before inviting the boy’s father to come on stage.</p><p>The three judges went on to unanimously vote to have Opong advance to the elimination round, making him the eighth Filipino act to pass their audition so far this season.</p>
