Heart takes page from Miriam in response to bully wishing her ‘unlimited miscarriages’

MANILA — Heart Evangelista took a page from the late Sen. Miriam Defensor-Santiago, whom she considered her second mother, in responding to an online bully who wished her ill.

The comment was left by the since-disabled Instagram account on one of Evangelista’s posts. It read, in part: “Hey Heart! I wish you unlimited miscarriages! Sana mamatay ka at ma-rape.”

Evangelista, 34, had been expecting twins with her husband, Sen. Francis “Chiz” Escudero, but suffered miscarriages in mid-2018.

Sharing a screenshot of the comment in her Instagram Stories, Evangelista quoted a line popularly attributed to Defensor-Santiago — “I eat death threats for breakfast.”

Evangelista went on, in her own words: “To anyone who is being bullied or who has been bullied in the past, remember this… God will lift you up even higher. Chin up, baby.”

In a separate comment directly replying to her critic, the actress said she knows “which fan base you are from, the only one that wishes me all these things.”

She did not mention any celebrity in particular.

“Watch your words because God knows all,” she wrote. “Watch those words because the opposite will happen to me. I pray for you… all of you. No weapon formed against me shall prosper. Keep them coming because for every bash is equivalent to a blessing.”
