‘Nilaban mo ang anak ko’: Sylvia Sanchez has message for Maine Mendoza

MANILA — Screen veteran Sylvia Sanchez admitted that she has been hurt by harsh words against her family, in light of her son Arjo Atayde’s relationship with Maine Mendoza.

In an interview on “Tonight with Boy Abunda” that aired on Monday, the “Jesusa” star referred to the challenging situation as among the reasons why she is certain that Atayde is in love with Mendoza.

Despite fans who have vocally criticized Atayde, he fought, and continues to fight, for his relationship with Mendoza, according to Sanchez.

Atayde and Mendoza have admitted, in separate interviews, that they are “exclusively dating.”

Asked for her message to Mendoza, Sanchez brought up the actress-host’s stature in showbiz, and how she dared to defy expectations and stuck with Atayde in the face of criticisms.

For having publicly acknowledge Atayde as someone special, Sanchez expressed gratitude to Mendoza, whom she has yet to meet in person.
