MANILA – Actor JM de Guzman has turned to social media to ask for prayers for Art Atayde and Sylvia Sanchez, who have both been diagnosed with the coronavirus disease.

On Instagram on Monday, de Guzman posted a photo of the celebrity couple before expressing his concern for them in the caption.

“I humbly ask for your prayers for Tito Art and Tita Sylvia's fast and smooth recovery. Thank you,” he told his two million followers.

Sanchez plays de Guzman’s adoptive mother in the ABS-CBN series “Pamilya Ko.” But even before working on the series together, de Guzman has already been close to the Ataydes.

Last March 31, Sanchez herself revealed that she and her husband were tested for the coronavirus on March 24. They were brought to the Cardinal Santos Medical Center in San Juan, and then self-isolated in their home.

According to an update from their children Arjo and Ria on April 2, their mom and dad are slowly getting better one week since their parents had their swab tests done and went into isolation.

“Although it’s taking longer than their usual recovery time, we are happy to see them with their spirits still high,” they said.

Ria and Arjo were also glad to have learned “that no one that they have come in contact with before the quarantine and no one else here at home are showing symptoms.”

They then asked their loved ones and followers to continue praying not just for their parents but for everyone fighting the disease, as well as the COVID-19 frontliners.
