WATCH: Darren's performance in 'Singer 2019'

<p>As expected, Darren Espanto did not disappoint when he stepped on the stage of China&#x27;s “Singer 2019” for a special performance during its finale.</p><p>Aired last Thursday, Espanto joined Russian singer Polina Gagarina as well as Kazakhstani child singer Daneliya Tuleshova and Chinese rapper Air as they all belted out “We Are the World.”</p><p>Espanto shared a short clip of their async="" src="http://www.instagram.com/embed.js" type="text/javascript"></script><p>Prior to flying to China, Espanto told ABS-CBN News how excited he was to be appearing on arguably the most popular singing competition in the Asian country.</p><p>“I’m very happy na napili po ako to guest to sing sa finals ng &#x27;Singer&#x27; in China. The first time na narinig ko po &#x27;yung news, na-excite po ako na kinabahan and I had mixed emotions. Pero mostly happy,” he said.</p><p>Espanto said he went to China three months ago to meet the director and the team behind “Singer.” </p><p>“&#x27;Yung mga taga China po, they contacted me through my record label and they asked if I could guest nga po. Actually I went there and I got to meet the director and the team behind it. They asked me to sing a few songs din po. Nagulat po ako na a week and a half ago, they said na mag-guest nga daw po ako sa finals,” he said.</p><p>Espanto is not the first Filipino to step on the stage of the talent competition.</p><p>Last year, KZ Tandingan made waves when she joined the show as one of its contestants.</p>
