MANILA – Ethel Booba admitted on social media that she was advised to just declare as “hacked” the Twitter account which many people thought was her own until she herself dubbed it as “fake.”

The comedienne said this in response to a netizen while using her newly-created page, which now has a little over 2,000 followers since it posted its first tweet 11 days ago.

“Dapat kasi nag reklamo ka sa twitter tapos sabihin mo na hack account mo. Tapos nag apoligize ka dun di sana meron ka 1.6m pa rin na followers,” the netizen said, unedited, pertaining to the old Twitter account which Ethel disowned.

The actress, however, explained that she’d rather start a new page because she no longer wants to complicate things any further.

“Yan din ang msg ng admin na nakarating sakin sabihin na lang daw na hack pero gusto ko na lang matigil lahat. Di ko ugali ang manira o magsimula ng kahit ano man kung nadisappoint ko man kayo. My bad. Pray na lang natin na matapos na tong kinakaharap natin,” she tweeted.

With her new separate account, Ethel said the one handling the old page can now say anything freely without dragging her name.

In a vlog, Ethel acknowledged that she gave the “fan” who runs the account permission to use her name, but decided to now distance herself after she claimed the “fan” went too far with its political tweets, particularly its criticisms of the Duterte administration.

On Saturday, the account, which previously had more than 1.6 million followers, returned with a new name, profile picture, cover photo, and a bio that read: “Started as PARODY account until Ethel claimed it as hers on National TV.”

In its newest post, it was briefly explained that the account was reactivated only to delete previous tweets linking it to Ethel.

A message from the “fan” who runs the account said that the plan is to deactivate it again because some want to take advantage of its massive fanbase.
