'Yellow Rose,' starring Eva Noblezada wins in LA film fest

<p>MANILA – “Yellow Rose,” an American movie musical starring Filipino-American artist Eva Noblezada, took home the Grand Jury Award for outstanding North American narrative feature at the 35th Los Angeles Asian Pacific Film Festival (LAAPFF), according to <a href="https://variety.com/2019/film/awards/yellow-rose-asian-pacific-film-fest-1203211721/amp/?fbclid=IwAR0u2wXS6690o6Kwf863chK28O-Z3eiPgQqY40X8pkYPO6gAqCEaN1ehUwI">Variety</a>.</p><p>The same film <a href="https://news.abs-cbn.com/entertainment/03/19/19/yellow-rose-starring-eva-noblezada-lea-salonga-to-open-film-fest-in-la">opened</a> the LAAPFF, which ran from May 2 to 10 with film screenings in Little Tokyo and L.A. is the lead character in the movie.</p><p>Directed by Diane Paragas, the movie tells the story of a 17-year-old Filipino-American girl who dreams of becoming a country music star. </p><p>Other stars of “Yellow Rose” include Lea Salonga, Liam Booth, Gustavo Gomez, Libby Villari, and Princess Punzalan. </p><p>“I am so humbled that our film has been chosen for this honor,” Paragas was previously quoted by Deadline.com and LAtfUSA.com. </p><p>“’Yellow Rose’ has taken over 15 years to make and it couldn’t come at a more important time when anti-immigrant sentiment is at an all-time high.
