By releasing a mesmeric but baffling trailer earlier this month, Viva Films has surrounded its forthcoming offering, "Sid and Aya: Not a Love Story," with a cloud of intrigue.

There's speculation that Anne Curtis' character, the mysterious Aya, is just a figment of the imagination of Sid, an insomniac portrayed by Dingdong Dantes. Another popular theory is that she's an alien.

Adding to that, there's also the matter of the movie's title. If it's a not love story, then why are "I love yous" being thrown around? Why is there a bed scene? What is it about, really?

Many of those questions remained unanswered during the press conference held Thursday night, attended by its two lead stars and its director, Irene Emma Villamor ("Meet Me in St. Gallen").

All three were careful not to reveal the plot, only talking in bits about Aya having a connection with Japan, that she's indeed a real person --a "crazy, all-out kind"-- and that Sid is "flawed."

Now while those didn't really help in removing the shroud of mystery, one thing's clear for them: they want those who watched the movie to realize: "May mga g*** talaga sa mundo."

This is in reference to one of Dantes' line: "Si Aya, g*** siya."

Although it is important to note that's the line is coming from Sid, who isn't exactly the complete goody two shoes opposite of Aya. In the trailer, he's painted as a bit crazy, obnoxious, and over-reliant on medication to deal with insomnia.

Villamor hinted that some of the movie's scenes are based from her real experiences. "Lahat naman ng isusulat ko, dapat may panggalingan. So I think nandiyan lang siya."

Asked about what she wanted to say to the "Sids" of the world, she had a funny reply: "Masarap mang-g**** sa simula pero hintayin niyong ma-g**** rin kayo."

"Sid and Aya: Not a Love Story" is scheduled for a May 30 release.
