stint, Zanjoe Marudo looked back on his early days in showbiz and how he kicked off his career that made him one of the most sought-after stars today.</p><p>Speaking during a special edition of Actors&#x27; Cue for the #ExtendTheLove initiative last Friday, Marudo shared that he did not know he was going to be an actor until after &quot;PBB.&quot;</p><p>“Nalaman ko na lang na mag-aartista ako after na nung paglabas ko kasi in-offer-an ka. Walang training. Sumabak ka agad sa giyera na parang wala kang bala,” he said.</p><p>His very first acting job was a “Maalaala Mo Kaya” episode and Marudo admitted messing up big time because he kept on blocking Anne Curtis from the camera.</p><p>“Buong araw kong sinasapawan si Anne sa camera kasi nga hindi ko alam na may camera pala sa likod, hindi na siya makikita. Tapos may iyakan scene kami tatlong oras nag-aantay si Anne. Sabi niya, ‘Hindi pa ba tapos? Kanina pa ako ako nandito,’” he recalled laughing.</p><p>On the other hand, Marudo shared that playing a supporting role in his very first film with director Cathy Garcia Molina taught him a lot.</p><p>“Maswerte din ako sa una kong pelikula kasi si Direk Cathy agad &#x27;yung director ko so madami akong natutunan. Pelikula ito ni Sam Milby at ni Toni Gonzaga. Nag-support ako sa kanila tapos ang dami ko agad natutunan after na gawin &#x27;yung isang pelikulang &#x27;yun kasi alam naman natin kung gaano kagaling si Direk Cathy sa paggawa ng mga rom-com,” he said.</p><p>Despite the challenges he encountered as a newbie actor, Marudo said he is grateful that ABS-CBN gave him a lot of chances to prove himself.</p><p>“Ang maganda naman sa ABS, hindi ka tinitigilan bigyan ng pagkakataon lagi. Kunyari, first chance na ibibigay sa &#x27;yo tapos hindi mo nagawa, lipat ka sa iba. Bibigyan ka nila ng maraming chance. Kaya rin siguro kami natuto at tumagal na rin,” he said.</p><p>As to the biggest leap he made in his acting career, Marudo said it would have to be when he portrayed the role of a father in the 2013 series “Annaliza.”</p><p>“Siguro nag-take ako ng risk nung parang ang dami-dami na masyadong leading man sa ABS-CBN. Hindi na alam kung kanino ibibigay &#x27;yung next na teleserye. Siyempre ang dami sa generation namin. Nag-take ako ng risk nung time na &#x27;yun, tumanggap ako ng isang project na nag-tatay role ako na wala pa masyadong gumagawa sa mga kasabayan ko,” he said.</p><p>“Siyempre sa umpisa parang natatakot ako na baka tumanda na agad eh bata pa ako nung time na &#x27;yun. Tapos hindi uso, walang gumagawa pa sa mga ka-age nun. Yung ‘Annaliza’ maganda &#x27;yung naging outcome niya tapos parang mas napansin ka na pwede ka pala kahit ano. Parang mas humahaba &#x27;yung buhay mo pag may napapakita kang iba,” he added.</p><p>#ExtendTheLove is an initiative to help displaced film workers that are affected by the lockdown because of the pandemic. It started by screening films online and then through live sessions related to film.</p><p>Actors&#x27; Cue is an online session where actors talk about their work and passion. Already in its 10th session, previous sessions featured acclaimed actors and actresses including Cannes Best Actress Jaclyn Jose and one with Asian actors with Piolo Pascual.</p>
