MANILA — Director Theodore Boborol took to social media to explain why the primetime series “Make It With You” starring Enrique Gil and Liza Soberano was cancelled.

“Believe me. It was also difficult for everyone,” Boborol tweeted on June 5.

It was Soberano’s talent manager, Ogie Diaz, who first confirmed that the series will no longer return on air on the Kapamilya Channel.

Boborol said that decisions had to be made after ABS-CBN suffered a “double blow.” Aside from the lockdown because of the coronavirus, ABS-CBN was also ordered to stops its operations by the National Telecommunications Commission last May 5.

“ABS-CBN was already badly hit by the pandemic, and then suffered a double blow when its renewal was not granted. Decisions had to be made and we respect and understand why it ought to be done,” Boborol said.

He also explained that the returning Kapamilya series “FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano”, “A Soldier’s Heart,” and “Love Thy Woman,” have already taped episodes before the COVID-19 crisis.

“The returning dramas have multiple episodes already in the can even before the pandemic hit,” the director tweeted as a reply to the question why “Make It With You” was cancelled while the other three series will continue to air.

Boborol also asked everyone to support the series that will continue airing as well as the new shows that that will be shown on the Kapamilya Channel.

“We are not the only one. Let us just support the shows that will continue airing and the new shows that will be launched,” he tweeted.

Kapamilya Channel will be available starting June 13 on SKY, Cablelink, G Sat, and most member-cable operators of the Philippine Cable Television Association (PCTA) nationwide.
